Message from the Head of Senior School
I hope this week has been treating you well. We've had a busy week here at the school, with several exciting events happening. Firstly, I am delighted to say that our Open House on Monday was a great success. We were thrilled to welcome prospective students and their families to our school and showcase what we have to offer.
On a more regal note, as a British International School, we are proud to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III. We have incorporated this historic event in our assemblies, allowing students to learn more about the significance of this momentous occasion. As you can see from the pictures, the Sixth Form even organised a coronation party at break time to mark the event.
In sports, I would like to give big congratulations to our Under 13 Netball team who had a home game on Wednesday. They played with great skill and determination, and we are proud of their achievements. Our Under 9s Basketball team also played on Wednesday, away at Wellington. A big well done to all pupils representing the school as always.
I am also happy to report that the Year 12 pupils have been showing exemplary kindness by helping pupils in the Preparatory school with their CCAs. Their actions embody one of our school's core values, and we commend them for their dedication to serving others.
Lastly, the "Big Swap" event took place today in an effort to be more sustainable and bring some new life into unused toys. This event was organized by Ms. Stormfield, and we would like to thank her for her hard work and dedication in making this a reality.
In honour of the coronation, I would like to leave you with a quote: "A king is one who fears nothing in his pursuit of the good." - Aristotle
Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend ahead!
Best regards,
Carly

Shrek Jr - Coming to a theatre near you soon!
It is wonderful to see the interaction between some of our Sixth Form pupils and the younger years as part of the College CCA programme. Year 12 and 13 pupils attend their own CCAs of course but some also take the time to enjoy working with Years 1 to 6 in CCAs such as Forest Schools, KS1 Games, and Recycled Craft. As they begin the exam season it is also a great opportunity to take time out of their revision schedule for a brief period and all pupils are thoroughly enjoying the experience, as can be seen in these pictures.
On Thursday, Parmida and her fellow Year 13 peers met with our Year 12 pupils to share their own experiences of taking the SATs and IELTS exams. This session was extremely informative and helped to answer any questions that Year 12 have before going through the university admissions process.
We would love to share more about our sustainability efforts in the classroom. It's wonderful to see pupils learning about taking care of plants and being involved in growing their own herbs and vegetables. We're teaching them about recycling paper and how to make new paper. It's important for pupils to learn about these sustainable practices and be more conscious of their impact on the environment. The pupils have learned how important it is to take care of plants so that they can thrive. If you're interested in learning how to do this, please feel free to ask us.
Leaving Staff
A big thank you to Coach Top! Top has worked with our swimming squad and lessons all year and has given our swimmers valuable insight and advice. We will miss him very much and wish him the best next year.

Assemblies - Year 4 Greeks - Awards
Today our Year 4 pupils put on an incredible assembly about Ancient Greece, and it was truly a sight to behold. From the moment it started, the audience was transported back in time to a world of heroes, gods, and goddesses.
The assembly started with a powerful rendition of a traditional Greek song, which set the tone for the rest of the performance. The pupils then went on to showcase their knowledge of Ancient Greece by presenting fascinating facts about the history, culture, and mythology of this incredible civilization.
One of the highlights of the assembly was the recreation of the Olympic Games, which were held in Ancient Greece every four years. The pupils showed off their athletic prowess in a series of games and races, and the audience was truly amazed by their skills and dedication.
Throughout the assembly, the pupils demonstrated not only their knowledge and creativity but also their teamwork and dedication. They worked tirelessly to prepare for this performance, practicing their lines, songs, and choreography until they had perfected every detail.
This assembly was a wonderful example of the power of education to inspire and engage young minds. By learning about Ancient Greece, the pupils gained a deeper appreciation of history, culture, and mythology, and they were able to share their newfound knowledge with the rest of the school community.
Furthermore, this assembly was a celebration of the diversity and richness of our school community. We have pupils from many different backgrounds and cultures, and by learning about Ancient Greece, we were able to discover commonalities and connections that unite us all.
In conclusion, the Year 4 assembly about Ancient Greece was a resounding success, and we are incredibly proud of our pupils for their hard work and dedication. They demonstrated creativity, teamwork, and a passion for learning, and we are confident that they will continue to achieve great things in the years to come.
The assembly also included a special award for WahWhar (Year 5). She was presented with a 'Head of School' Award by Mrs Wyper for her outstanding contribution to school life and her support for others.

As you may already know, our IGCSE, AS and A Level exams have already begun. The Senior School pupils in Years 7-10 will also have end-of-year exams later this term (week beginning 3rd June). The mental health charity 'Place2be' has provided this advice for parents to help their children over the exam period.
Everyone at Brighton College Bangkok is delighted with news of Jay and Khanin’s outstanding achievements. The two pupils won awards for gaining the highest marks in Thailand for Economics A Level and IGCSE English language respectively. The awards cap an incredible journey for the pupils in their courses. They have both invested an incredible amount of energy, time and dedication and it has been a pleasure for their teachers to see how the pupils grew as learners.
To gain such incredibly high scores and to be the best in Thailand is a testament to their hard work and tenacity. The pupils demonstrated a huge commitment to wider reading to develop, enhance and augment their work in class.
Jay has gone on to study Urban Planning at the University of Manchester, where he is thriving. He recently returned to visit and was able to update us on his many successes since his graduation. Needless to say, he was thrilled with this award and recognition and very appreciative of the support and guidance given by all his teachers and counselors at our school. The progress Jay made, especially between Year 11 and Year 13, was outstanding and an example of the hard work that goes into getting all our pupils to be the best that they can be in all aspects of academic life.
Khanin is focused on his university applications at the moment and is considering studying Computer Science or Engineering at a variety of prestigious colleges and universities in Canada. He is making excellent progress in all his subjects and he has worked consistently hard throughout his time with us, including taking AS level exams a year early!
This achievement is richly deserved, Jay and Khanin are talented individuals with very bright futures. We wish them all the best in their future endeavours. These are just two examples of the many accomplishments of our successful Senior School, where pupils succeed in a culture of kindness and curiosity, developing confidence and the ability to surpass expectations.

Congratulations to Emmie, a Year 8 student, on her recent achievement! Last week, she won a gold medal in the guitar competition in the 13-16 years old category. Well done, Emmie!

I'm originally from Nottingham in England but have lived most of my life in Cambridgeshire. I moved back to Nottingham to study for my Primary Education degree. I have been teaching for 4 years and have experience in teaching both Key Stages 1 and 2. I will be moving to Bangkok with my husband, Liam, who will be a Science teacher.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending my spare time reading or cross-stitching as I find these activities relaxing and mindful. I also appreciate being outdoors and going for long walks, but I also enjoy cozying up on the sofa to watch a film or play Animal Crossing. I have a passion for travel and love exploring new places, although airplanes still make me a little nervous. I have had the opportunity to visit various locations around the world, including Australia, America, Cuba, and Egypt. I am thrilled to embark on this new adventure in Thailand.
Originally from the vibrant city of London, I completed my undergraduate degree in Economics at Sussex University. After enjoying a successful career in advertising, and shooting commercials all over the world, I decided to pursue my true passion for education. I completed my PGCE with the University of Nottingham and made the bold and exciting decision to move to Bangkok three years ago. Since then, it has been an amazing journey.
Outside of the classroom, I have a deep appreciation for the arts and love immersing myself in various forms of creativity. Exploring nature is another passion of mine, as it provides both inspiration and tranquility. Being a fitness enthusiast, I also value an active lifestyle and encourage students to prioritize their physical and mental well-being.
I am eagerly looking forward to the next educational adventure and cannot wait to create many memorable experiences filled with growth, discovery, and joy!
I am thrilled to be returning to Brighton College Bangkok, a vibrant, innovative, and supportive school, in my new role as Head of Key Stage Four. After spending four wonderful years teaching History and serving as Head of Humanities, I am excited to continue teaching History while also taking on the responsibility of pastoral and academic lead for Years 10 and 11.
I am deeply passionate about providing pastoral support to students and bring with me years of experience as a pastoral leader from my previous work at a large London school. I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to teach many of the remarkable students who will be entering Key Stage Four next year. Some of them I even taught when they were in Year 5 and 6 at Brighton College! It is a true honor to support students as they navigate this exciting and crucial phase of their lives. I eagerly anticipate reconnecting with students and their families in August.
I am originally from Cork, Ireland, but I moved to London after completing my university studies. After spending a few years working in the industry, specifically in financial services and marketing, I pursued a career in teaching and trained in London. I taught there for many years before venturing into international teaching, starting with a move to Vietnam. Since then, I have had the opportunity to work in international schools in Colombia, Thailand, and Prague in the Czech Republic, where I taught and led various Business and Economics courses.
Enterprise in schools and student leadership are areas that I am deeply passionate about, and I am excited to build upon the excellent work in these areas at Brighton College. I am also eager to establish connections with businesses in Bangkok, as I believe they can greatly enhance the classroom experience by providing real-world context. If you are involved with a business that welcomes student visits or are willing to share your experience and expertise with students, please do get in touch.
Outside of school, I thoroughly enjoy reading, listening to podcasts, and exploring new places. Thailand is an incredible country, and I am genuinely looking forward to returning to Southeast Asia.
