Message from the Head Master, Nick Gallop
As we reach the half-term break, it is a great moment to pause and reflect on what has been an extraordinary seven weeks at Brighton College Bangkok. From the very start of term, the energy and spirit of our community have shone through in every corner of the school.
Earlier in the term we celebrated the landmarks of the opening of the Sixth Form Centre and the Senior School building, both of which symbolise the College’s continued growth and ambition. Last week, our beautiful Wai Kru ceremony was a super moment to remind us all of the values at the heart of Thai culture and of our own shared sense of community.
On the sports fields and courts, pupils have represented the College superbly in football, swimming, basketball, netball and much more, displaying teamwork, skill and determination in equal measure. And in the performing arts, the various recitals in assemblies and orchestral performance at our recent Open House have been wonderful.
There is so much still to come: the Winter Fair, our senior school production, prep school performances, sports days and a series of themed assemblies that promise to inspire and delight.
Thank you, as always, for your support, enthusiasm and encouragement throughout the term. I hope you and your families enjoy a restful and happy half-term break next week.
With best wishes,
Nick Gallop
Head Master
This week, pupils enjoyed a range of exciting activities to celebrate Science Week and STEAM Week.
Throughout Science Week, pupils came together in their Houses to take part in daily breaktime challenges, all tied to the theme Survive with Science.
- Monday: Pupils kicked off the week with a quiz on A Totally Normal Camping Trip, answering survival-themed science questions.
- Tuesday: Pupils tackled purifying dirty water, testing ingenuity in creating safe drinking supplies.
- Wednesday: Edible or Deadly quiz tested which wild foods were safe to eat.
- Thursday: Teams built the strongest possible bridges, putting engineering skills to the test.
- Friday: The week finished with an earthquake engineering challenge, constructing towers to survive simulated tremors.
STEAM Week continued the excitement with activities to celebrate World Space Week. Pupils submitted amazing entries in the Solar System Art Competition, showcasing incredible creativity and imagination. On Friday, everyone took part in hands-on challenges including mini microscopes, space artwork, VEX robotics, and Mars Rover building using recyclable materials. The week ended on a high with a STEAM assembly, featuring a special musical performance from our talented STEAM Team!

This week, pupils from Years 1-6 enjoyed exciting trips to the National Science Museum. Throughout the week, they took part in interactive, hands-on exhibits, watched spectacular science show demonstrations featuring liquid nitrogen, and experienced the wonders of space in the planetarium cinema. It was a brilliant week full of curiosity, discovery, and fun!

This week, it was the turn of 7F and 7R to take part in the basic first aid training session delivered by our external partner, First Aid Training Bangkok. During the one-hour course, pupils learnt how to respond to different types and severity of wounds, how to provide immediate treatment in an emergency, and how to place someone safely in the recovery position. They also explored essential wound care techniques to help minimise the risk of infection.
Once again, our pupils represented Brighton College Bangkok exceptionally well. Their focus, curiosity, and respect throughout the session made us very proud. This concludes the Year 7 First Aid training series, and all pupils have now gained valuable life skills that will help them respond confidently and responsibly in real-life situations.

The KS3 Parent-Teacher Meetings took place this week, bringing together parents and teachers for thoughtful conversations about pupils’ progress and successes. The evening was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate achievements, share insights, and strengthen the collaborative spirit that supports our pupils’ growth. We thank all parents for their attendance and continued support.

Phonics and Reading Parent Workshop
Thank you to all the parents who attended our Phonics Workshop. The session explored how we teach Read Write Inc. Phonics at Brighton College Bangkok, how children learn to read through sounds and shared practical strategies for supporting early reading at home. It was wonderful to see so many parents engaged and enthusiastic about their children’s learning
Weekly Sixth Form and Futures Update!
Futures: Weekly Lessons & One-to-One Support
As part of our Futures programme, Years 12 and 13 have a weekly timetabled Futures lesson. These sessions help pupils map their pathway from GCSE to A levels, through university, and beyond.
This term in Year 12, pupils have researched course and subject options, begun compiling their long list of countries and universities, and created CVs on Unifrog (the futures platform available to all pupils in the Senior School).
In Year 13, pupils are finalising their university choices, drafting and submitting applications in time for the extremely competitive early-entry routes, and preparing for admissions tests with the support of subject teachers.
Alongside these timetabled lessons, we host whole-school events, workshops targeted at specific subjects and prospective destinations, as well as one-to-one meetings with both parents and pupils. This one-to-one guidance is available to every pupil and every parent, at any point in the year. These appointments cover course choices, application timelines, personal statements and essays, test preparation and scholarship queries.Upcoming University Events at BCB:
Meet Mrs Peat - guiding our brightest minds toward their brightest futures.
Sixth Form is where everything converges: academic ambition meets university applications, teenage years meet young adulthood and dreams start taking concrete shape. Standing at this pivotal crossroads with our students is Mrs Peat, Assistant Head - Head of Sixth Form.
Whether it's crafting the perfect personal statement, making difficult university choices, developing independent study skills, or simply having someone who believes in them when self-doubt creeps in, Mrs Peat ensures no pupil faces these challenges alone.
She prepares them not just for university interviews, but for life beyond our gates - teaching resilience, critical thinking, self-advocacy and the confidence to step into their futures with purpose.
The students who walk through Sixth Form under Mrs Peat's leadership don't just leave as graduates. They leave as young adults ready to make their mark on the world, equipped with both academic excellence and the life skills to thrive wherever they go.
This is what it means to truly prepare pupils for their future - meeting them where they are and empowering them to reach where they're going.
This is Brighton Stories - where preparation meets possibility.
This week's assemblies saw a fun celebration of STEAM and Science at the end of an amazing week dedicated to these fundamental subjects!
Congratulations to everyone who was awarded a certificate, and also huge thanks to all those who treated us to such wonderful musical performances.

Football
There was success on the football field last weekend for the U19 boys in their annual TISAC event. The boys played well all day and finished in 2nd place after a tough final. Well done to all of the squad, and special mention to Alex for being named as Player of the Day!
There was more football success later in the week for our U11 boys in their SSL league. Well done to Matt for being named as Player of the Match for this one. The girls also played well in their fixture, dominating SHC throughout to earn a well deserved win.
Basketball
It has been a busy week on the basketball court for our Brighton ballers. Last weekend our U9s competed in the Flames Tournament at STA. The teams played incredibly well all day with the boys coming away as champions and the girls finishing in bronze medal position.
Later in the week the U11B teams played ANS, again both teams played well, showing the progress and depth in the U11 squad. The U15s were also in action at the GBAC tournaments on Wednesday. Such a large group of players represented our school which again shows great depth and progress in our squad. Well done to Robin, Inter, Erwin, Cooper Ping Ping W and Vivi who were named as players of the day for the Brighton teams.
Swimming
Congratulations to the following swimmers who have recently broken school swimming records:
Pun (Year 6) - 50m Freestyle (long course) and 100m backstroke record breaker!
Haley (Year 8) - 50m Breaststroke (long course) record breaker!
Jasper (Year 13) - 50m Backstroke (long course) record breaker!
Netball
Our senior netball team were in action this week against a strong BKKP team. The girls held themselves well on the court and should be proud of their versatility with positions. Player of the Match was Pi for her cool head under pressure.
