Message from Nick Gallop, Head Master
Dear Parents,
What a brilliant week it has been across the College, filled with learning, celebration and community spirit.
We hosted two excellent parent workshops this week that were both informative and warmly received. On Tuesday morning, we welcomed parents to a session on Neurodiversity, which provided valuable insights into how we support pupils with a range of learning profiles, helping every child to thrive. Later in the week, our Early Years to Year 1 Transition and Key Stage 2 to 3 workshops gave families practical guidance and reassurance on what to expect as their child takes the exciting step into the Prep School. Thank you to the staff who led these sessions so thoughtfully, and to the many parents who attended and contributed.
On Tuesday evening, the Senior School Sports Awards brought together pupils, staff and families to celebrate a year of incredible sporting achievements. It was fantastic to see such a large number of pupils recognised for their dedication, skill and sportsmanship across a wide range of sports. Thank you to all the staff who have coached, encouraged and supported our teams this year.
Our pupils have also been busy beyond the classroom. Senior School Geographers took part in fieldwork trips, gaining hands-on experience that enriches their classroom learning. Meanwhile, a group of Year 12 pupils embarked on a memorable trip to the UK, where they visited some of the country’s top universities, explored historical and cultural landmarks and spent time at Brighton College UK, strengthening the links between our schools and inspiring future academic goals.
Finally, we are very much looking forward to welcoming you to our Family Fun Day this weekend. With games, competitions, and musical performances from across the school, it promises to be a joyful occasion for the whole community. These shared experiences are what make Brighton College Bangkok such a special place to learn and grow.
With best wishes,
Nick Gallop
Head Master
Year 6 Production: Pirates of the Curry Bean!
We are delighted to welcome you to this year’s Year 6 production of Pirates of the Curry Bean. This lively musical takes us on a swashbuckling journey across the high seas, filled with mischief, mayhem and plenty of laughs.
The story follows twins Jack and Liza Periwinkle, who stumble across a mysterious treasure map. When their father is kidnapped by the infamous pirate Redbeard, the twins set off on a daring rescue mission. Along the way, they meet a host of quirky characters, join forces with some well-meaning pirates, and find themselves caught up in a race to uncover the legendary treasure of the Curry Bean. With toe-tapping songs, colourful costumes and unforgettable scenes, this performance promises to be a joyful celebration of storytelling and imagination.
In the rehearsal process, our pupils have demonstrated the values that lie at the heart of our school. They have shown kindness in their support for one another, confidence in stepping into the spotlight, resilience when learning new skills, and curiosity as they explored the characters and the world of the play. Most importantly, they have worked together as a team to bring this story to life with energy, humour and heart.
We look forward to welcoming you to our show on Friday 20th June at 5:30pm at the Brighton College Bangkok Theatre!
This week we celebrated our sporting superstars at Brighton College Bangkok. This year we have seen amazing successes on the pitch, court, track and pool with over 70% of senior pupils representing the college and winning 60 trophies. At the Senior awards every pupil was celebrated and awarded a coveted participation ribbon signifying the contributions they have made for their teams this year. We then awarded the Most Improved and Most Valuable Player trophies in each category for the young athletes who have really shone this year! It has been a great year for sport at BCB! The preparatory awards also celebrate successes as well as the stand out players for each year group. Special mention goes to Mr Tom Guppy, who was named as ‘Coach of the Year’ for his successes with the U9 Girls Football team this year.
Well done to all of the athletes who have participated this year.

Last weekend the Early Years team were thrilled to team up with Bangkok Mothers and Babies International (BAMBI) once again for a Brighton College Bangkok x BAMBI Pop-Up event. This time, we had an exciting “Out of This World” theme!
It was a pleasure to welcome so many families into our learning spaces to explore the facilities and join in activities with our Early Years teachers. A big thank you to everyone who came along – we had a fantastic time!

Parent Workshop: Neurodiversity
This week, our Assistant Head of Pupil Support, Sofia Keigher, held a parent workshop on neurodiversity. The session explored different types of neurodivergence and addressed some of the unique challenges around awareness and support in Thailand and Southeast Asia. Sofia also shared how teachers at Brighton College support neurodivergent pupils to thrive both academically and personally. Thank you to all the parents who attended and contributed to the thoughtful discussion.
Year 5 Residential: Adventures at OurLand!
What an unforgettable adventure our Year 5 pupils had at OurLand in Kanchanaburi! From floating peacefully down the river and trekking through the jungle to launching seeds with catapults and relaxing with a jungle sound bath, every moment was packed with excitement and discovery. Pupils showed incredible energy, maturity, and teamwork, especially while building traditional mud bricks, braving bugs, and walking with elephants!
They also shared laughs during a lively ballroom quiz, cooled off with some pool fun, and made memories they’ll never forget. A huge thank you for giving your children the opportunity to take part in such a magical experience. We’re so proud of every one of them!
In honour of Pride Month, our Senior School DEI Ambassadors led a powerful assembly exploring LGBTQ+ rights and history. Our theme for this year is, ‘love is love’. At Brighton College, inclusion is at the heart of our community, and our commitment to kindness goes beyond words — it’s a guiding principle that shapes how we support and respect one another every day.
Recognising Pride Month allows us to celebrate and affirm the diverse identities of both pupils and staff. During lunchtime, students had the opportunity to purchase rainbow badges and ‘love is love’ bears, to show their support for the LGBTQ+ community. Additionally, pupils and staff were invited to pledge their allyship by signing a Pride flag, which will be proudly displayed in school as a symbol of our collective support and unity.

Parent Workshop: Transition from Early Years to Key Stage 1
This week, we welcomed parents for an engaging and informative workshop focused on helping children smoothly transition from Early Years to Key Stage 1. Together, we explored the key similarities and differences between the two stages and shared practical strategies to support learning and well-being at home. Thank you to all who joined us for this valuable session—it’s wonderful to see our school community working together to give children the best possible start to their KS1 journey!

Mahidol University - College of Music Visit
It was a pleasure to welcome Dr Narong Prangcharoen, Dean of the College of Music, Mr Richard Ralphs, Principal of Pre-College, and Khun Ornjira Udomchanya, Instructor of the Young Artist Music Programme from Mahidol University's College of Music this week. We are forging stronger links to enhance our musical provision, enrich opportunities for our pupils and explore exciting avenues for collaboration in music, the performing arts and more. We thank The Dean for coming to see us at Brighton College Bangkok and look forward to the future.
Year 10 Residential to Chiang Rai
Last week, a our Year 10 GCSE Geography students participated in a three-day field trip to Chiang Rai, Thailand, to study the Muang Ngam river last week, a tributary of the Maekok River. The students aimed to collect primary data on the river's physical characteristics and understand its role in the local environment.
During their stay, the students conducted various fieldwork activities, including measuring the river's width, depth, velocity, and gradient at multiple sites along its course. They utilized tools such as measuring tapes, flow meters, and clinometers to gather accurate data. Additionally, they assessed the river's discharge at different points to analyze its flow patterns. The Kok River is known for its wide, shallow, and slow-moving nature, with an average discharge of 120 cubic meters per second near Chiang Rai city .
The students also observed the river's ecological significance. They noted the river's role in supporting local agriculture and biodiversity. Restoration efforts have been underway to improve water quality and reestablish natural flow patterns, aiming to enhance the river's health and resilience. Throughout their visit, the students stayed in the Maekok Village Resort, immersing themselves in the cultural and natural surroundings of Chiang Rai.
This field trip provided the students with valuable hands-on experience in geographical data collection and analysis, deepening their understanding of river systems and their importance to both the environment and local communities. Mr Boon and Ms Turle were thoroughly impressed by the maturity shown by pupils, they worked well as a team to collect the data they needed and have started to produce some excellent coursework. And finally, it is a big thank you to Mr Boon and Ms Turle for leading this geographical exploration!

Parent Workshop: Transition from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 3
Today Ms Anderson and Mrs Bennett ran a workshop for all parents whose children are transitioning into the Senior School next year. It was an informative session where we spoke about how the logistics and expectations vary from the Prep to the Senior School. We will have Session 2 next week which will be different to today's session where we will focus on Behaviour and Uniform expectations of our Senior School pupils. Thank you to all of the parents who attended today and for their great questions. We look forward to seeing you next week!

Year 5 Tackle Real-Life Farming Challenges with Ingenious Inventions!
This term, Year 5 have been busy learning about simple machines—and putting their knowledge to the test in an exciting, hands-on project inspired by a real-world problem faced by farmers in Nepal.
The challenge? To design and build a mechanism that could safely transport tomatoes down a hill—just like the steep slopes that Nepalese farmers work on every day.
Working in teams, pupils explored the principles behind levers, pulleys, wheels and axles, and inclined planes. They then used these concepts to create their own prototype transport systems. From rolling carts to clever pulley lines, their creations showed huge ingenuity, resilience and creativity.
After plenty of planning, problem-solving, and teamwork, the students tested their designs—and discovered just how tricky real-life engineering can be!
Well done, Year 5, for your thoughtful work and imaginative solutions. You’ve truly shown the spirit of young engineers!

We welcomed many of our Governors to Brighton College Bangkok last week for a productive meeting focused on key aspects of school life, ongoing investment and future improvements across the College. From academic excellence and campus development to pupil wellbeing and innovation in teaching, the discussion reflected our shared commitment to continuous improvement and ambition for the future. Governors also enjoyed a special musical performance in the theatre by the outstanding Royal Marines Band and Drum Corps – a fitting showcase of the talent and energy that define our pupils’ co-curricular experience.
Football
There has been more football success for the Brighton teams over the past week with lots more medals and trophies won.
Firstly last Friday the U9 girls took on AST in the GBAC League final. After a tough match in hot conditions the Brighton girls reigned victorious after a super hattrick from April! Well done girls!
Similar success was had by the staff team on Saturday at the annual 7-a-side charity football tournament. The Brighton Pelicans came out on top in their plate final winning the trophy!
Not to be outdone the U11 boys also came out on top of their GBAC tournament on Monday. Well done to all of the boys, but especially the penalty takers and GK who made all the difference in the final shoot out for gold!

Later on in the week the U15 boys played a great game against a physical Kings side. The last match for Captain George, the boys did themselves proud on the pitch!

In this week's Prep Assembly, we heard a wonderful rendition from the Key Stage 2 choir and congratulations to all pupils who were given Sports Awards and nominated as Stars of the Week!
This week's Senior Assembly was led by our pupils from our DEI group who talked further about Pride Month. They talked about the development of the community, the important figures of the community and how the the LGBTQ+ community is now being supported nationally and internationally! Well done to our pupils who led this assembly. Congratulations to all pupils who were recognised this week!

Pen-Portraits New Staff for 2025/26 Academic Year
Jonathan Lim - Teacher of Performing Arts
Hello Brighton!
I’m thrilled to be joining Brighton College Bangkok this August as the new Prep Performing Arts teacher! I'll be traveling to you from Brunei, where I’ve spent my teaching career helping young performers grow in confidence and creativity through the Performing Arts.
Musical theatre is a big part of my world, and I’ve loved directing shows like Shrek, Finding Nemo, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and Aladdin. Right now, I’m working on Frozen... it’s been snow much fun!
Outside the classroom, I’m always up for a challenge. I've represented Brunei on the national powerlifting team, and I also enjoy bouldering and the occasional game of Dungeons & Dragons.
I can’t wait to meet everyone and become part of the Brighton community. I may be a little homesick, but if you see me around campus, come say "HI!" and tell me your favourite flavour of ice cream mine is chocolate!"
Davinder Paddem - Teacher of Science
I am very excited to be returning to Thailand again this summer and beginning new and exciting adventures at Brighton College Bangkok.
After graduating in Chemistry from Nottingham Trent University, I began my teaching career in Royal Leamington Spa. After several years, I moved to Bangkok working at both Bangkok Patana School and Amnuay Silpa. I'm excited by all things Science & Engineering and love to know how things work.
Outside of school life, I love travelling and music. I'm passionate about classical Indian music and have been learning Tabla for over 20 years. I've been fortunate to have played with many artists from around Thailand and once even appeared on TV!.
Needless to say, Thailand has become my home from home and I look forward to working with new colleagues and discovering the future young scientists and engineers at BCB
